The current Thameslink scheme is out of date before being built and is unlikely to deliver the improvements that Network Rail claim.
One of the most important Conservation Areas in the county will be irreparably damaged, the 25 or so listed buildings and market roof structures will be lost not only to our community but to future generations.
The scale of the demolition required to accommodate the new concrete and steel viaduct has been underplayed by Network Rail.
Two local community groups were the only objectors to this disastrous scheme - and now call on the Government at this late stage to invest the money in a scheme that will deliver value for money and spare the Borough Market Area this needless destruction.
